The premiere performance of the Ruse Theater “Still Life with an Obese Nephew” will be a guest in Burgas

The comedy “Still Life with an Obese Nephew” of the Ruse Drama Theater “Sava Ognyanov” will be a guest on the Burgas stage at the NHC Cultural House on April 26, the organizers from “Art Melpomena” report. The director of the new production, based on the text of the Romanian playwright Ion Sapdaru, is the director of the theater in Ruse, Boyan Ivanov. It was his decision that the main roles of the three aunts in the production be performed by men, while the role of the nephew is played by the actor Lubo Neikov. In the other main characters, the audience will also see Robert Yanakiev, Ivaylo Draganov and Milen Dimitrov. They are partnered by the young actress Donna Valova. The scenography and costumes are by Petar Mitev, and the composer of the music is Plamen Mirchev-Mirona.
According to the director, this is an emotional play in which the author uses the “comedy of situations as a carrier, as an outer packaging to convey some very interesting and very serious themes”. As BTA wrote at the premiere of the performance in Ruse, the performance is more of a comedy with elements of drama, in which the narrative asks questions about the dimensions and damages of being loved and loving, as well as about the inexplicable in love between people. The story of “Still Life with an Obese Nephew”, whose text has been performed for 13 years now at the Odeon Theater in Bucharest, follows three aunts who are raising their nephew, who is the child of their fourth sister. While putting the characters in comical situations, the play sets the themes of both impossible love and love that can suffocate you, destroy you, and turn you into something you don’t want to be.
