1,755 motor vehicles are stuck on the territory of the Metropolitan Municipality, which meet the criteria for an end-of-life motor vehicle, the Metropolitan Inspectorate reports for the first three months of 2024.

These cars are subject to a 3-month warning period in which owners must take action to relocate or hand them in for recycling.

After this period, forced repatriation takes place, which takes place at decommissioning sites.

A large proportion of the identified cars do not have Sofia registration, which is not, however, a prerequisite for delaying the procedure. It applies in the same way to all identified end-of-life vehicles, regardless of registration.

There were 160 cars forcibly moved to disassembly sites during the same reporting period.

The largest number of stuck and moved unusable cars are in the areas: “Lyulin”, “Krasno selo”, “Mladost”, “Izgrev”, “Iskar”, “Slatina” and “Ilinden”.

Abandoned in public places, cars often interfere with communal cleanliness activities, the free passage of pedestrians or become objects of pollution, the Metropolitan Municipality reminds.
