The city conference of the BSP – Plovdiv arranged its lists for the upcoming parliamentary elections, the party announced.

With a result of 70 percent of the votes, the socialists voted confidence in the people’s representative and city leader of the party Ivan Petkov for another mandate in the parliament.

After Petkov, the list includes Katya Stoilova, Anastas Angelov, Teodor Hristov, Filip Bakalski, Stefan Georgiev, Plamen Nazarov, Yovka Zlateva, Rumen Motrenikov, Naum Kitanov, Nikolay Marinov, adds BTA.

According to the Statute of the Bulgarian Socialist Party, the leaders of lists in the individual constituencies are approved by the National Council of the Left. Nevertheless, the City Conference of the Plovdiv organization adopted its decision, with which it proposes to the national leadership that Ivan Petkov should lead in Plovdiv.

Petkov thanked for the vote of confidence and promised to continue working in the interest of the citizens and to protect the ideas of the socialists. Before the voting took place, he reported on his work in the 49th National Assembly.

Over the period of one year, Petkov participated in 17 legislative initiatives, he was the initiator of 16 issues during parliamentary control. He organized a number of meetings and events both in the parliament and in Plovdiv.

Ivan Petkov is an economist, a member of parliament from the “BSP for Bulgaria” coalition in four parliaments. In the period 2015-2019, he was a municipal councilor in the municipality of Plovdiv. In 2010, he was elected chairman of the Youth Organization of the BSP – Plovdiv, and in 2022 he headed the city structure of the party.
