“Elin Pelin” Primary School – Burgas was the host under the NP “Innovations in Action” of the Ministry of Education and Culture – Burgas. Guests of the educational institutions were principals, deputy principals and teachers from 33 OU “St. Petersburg” – Sofia, SU “Hristo Botev” – the village of Banite and OU “St. St. Cyril and Methodius” – Smilyan village.
During the visit, they observed good practices for the activity “Mobility to promote and multiply good innovations between innovative schools”. Educators had the opportunity to familiarize themselves with the activities and application of the innovative project “Sciences without borders” in open lessons on various topics – “Bulgarian folklore”, “On the path of history”, “Healthy lifestyle”, “Our food”.
Through binary lessons, project-based learning, stem methods and experiences, learning through experience, the students of Elinpelin showed that knowledge is vast and there are no boundaries between different subjects that complement each other and develop our social, cultural and cognitive competences about nature, history , art, health, ecology and protection of the planet Earth – our home.
With the help of digital applications such as Kahoot, Storytelling, learning apps, wordwall, students showed knowledge and skills, demonstrated their innovation projects. As part of the activities of the NP “Innovations in Action”, the children also presented their projects dedicated to Earth Week. During the mobility under the NP “Innovations in action”, the pedagogical specialists got acquainted with the educational and project activities at the “Elin Pelin” elementary school, with the school’s participation in European projects. Attention was paid to empathy, inclusive education, cultural heritage, bullying prevention, which turn students into partners in the classroom, increase their motivation and desire to participate in the educational process. The representatives of the school institutions got acquainted with the application of the innovative project “Science without borders”, which aims at the practical application of the studied content and develops the skills of children to work in a team, looking for solutions to a problem, to form skills to plan, organize and are researching.
Pedagogical specialists were also special guests at the spring holiday concert of “Elin Pelin” Elementary School in the Ethnographic Museum of Burgas. During the mobility, the participants had the opportunity to get to know each other, to learn details about the innovative processes in each of the other schools, to share good experiences and working practices, both in terms of training and organizational and administrative issues.
The guests agreed that the NP “Innovations in action” creates working links between the schools included in the List of Innovative Schools and schools that have similar challenges, solutions and ideas for change, an innovative space between schools in partnership with common goals, opportunities and desire for exchange of innovations, conditions for multiplication and partnership for innovations and good pedagogical practices.
