Customs officials from the Varna Customs Territorial Directorate detained 10,563 undeclared goods – construction tools and parts for them, in a container that arrived from China.

The container was unloaded at the “Varna Zapad” customs point and according to the documents, it contains 18 types of specialized goods – appliances used in construction, hand tools and parts for them, imported from China to Romania. The declarant is a Bulgarian company. The goods have been submitted for customs clearance with procedure code 42, which means that the charged duty is paid during customs clearance in Bulgaria, and VAT is due in the country for which the goods are intended – in the case of Romania.

According to the “risk analysis” method, employees from the “Customs Intelligence and Investigation” department at TD Mitnitsa Varna select the container for a thorough customs inspection on 11.04.2024. In the course of the control actions, the customs inspectors establish that the actual available quantity of each type of goods is about 10% more than declared. Thus, in addition to the nearly 138,000 items described in the customs documents, the customs inspectors counted a total of 10,563 undeclared goods, identical in type to the declared ones – various appliances and tools such as sprayers, granite and metal cutters, metal cutting and polishing discs, grinding devices , silicone guns, wrenches, pliers and more.

The undeclared goods have been detained and administrative criminal proceedings will be initiated in the case.
