“I can’t believe that PP-DB said that GERB is to blame for delaying the second tranche of the Recovery and Resilience Plan (RPP). This is frivolous” – this is how GERB leader Boyko Borisov commented on the accusations of the former Prime Minister Nikolay Denkov that the payment is blocked due to the failure to adopt four legislative acts.
According to Denkov, in order for the second payment to be made, the Law on Personal Bankruptcy, the Rules for the Work of the Anti-Corruption Commission, the Law on the Protection of Whistleblowers and the Road Map for Climate Neutrality, which is included in the program for this a week. “The bills are blocked by GERB, as the laws are in committees chaired by GERB-SDS”, said the MP from PP-DB at a briefing in the parliament.
However, according to Borisov, this is a transfer of blame. When asked by journalists about talks with “We continue the change-Democratic Bulgaria” for joint governance after the vote, the GERB leader answered:
“There cannot be an assembly with people who do not give themselves a real idea of what they have created, of what can be done, but seek in every way to transfer their own guilt to someone else. Again an assembly – a lot depends who will present himself how, who among them has the integrity to participate in such conversations”.
Borisov also said that three years ago, GERB brought Bulgaria into the European Banking Union, into the Eurozone, and left a Recovery Plan agreed with the European Commission absolutely ready. “To say that GERB is to blame is frivolous. Acad. Denkov should answer why three years after they were in offices, only Bulgaria did not have a plan (for recovery and sustainability),” insisted the leader of GERB.
In addition, according to Borisov, PP-DB spent the money they found after GERB and called on Denkov to also say “what he built, what they did, where they invested in order to make a profit”.
Regarding the sociological studies and Kiril Petkov’s statement that he was asked for 20,000 BGN by sociologists to reflect the theses of PP-DB, the leader of GERB said: “I never look sociologists, they never asked me for money because they know I don’t look at them. For whom the people vote, how they vote, then this is how things will be done in the parliament”.
“Everything has fallen apart, we are going to elections in two days, they want the resignation of Rosen Zhelyazkov”, commented the leader of GERB in response to a question about the requested resignation of the Speaker of the Parliament. “These are emotional outbursts not only of emotionality, but also of incapacity, of weakness,” he believes.
For the acting Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev, Boyko Borisov said that he is it is very difficult to be a caretaker prime minister without a parliamentary majority. “It’s very difficult if you haven’t done this job and everything falls on your head and all the parties try to stay away from you, and all the responsibility falls on one person,” he pointed out. “In the field of defense, in the field of energy – the acting prime minister can count on full support from GERB”, stressed Borisov.
