Former officers from the security services in Varna today made a request for a new conversation about the reforms in the system at a press conference at the National Press Center of BTA in the seaside city. They presented their newly formed “Security” association and the tasks they set themselves for the near future.
The chairman of the organization, Marin Cherkezov, pointed out that its members have the desire and opportunity to actively help the city’s leadership. He emphasized that in most cases, managers have experience in management, but lack expert training to solve specific problems. Unfortunately, despite the presence of sufficiently smart and capable people, we do not see their opinion being sought, public councils being formed, Cherkezov added.
Pavlin Pavlov, vice-chairman of “Sigurnost”, added that they are ready to offer the mayor’s administration an original system for timely notification of information. According to him, the reserve officers of the security services and the police, who have the knowledge to analyze and present timely data, can be included in the project. Things in Ukraine are escalating, and we are entering the new tourist season, not only tourists will come to Varna, but also people with other purposes and the situation will worsen, comments Pavlov. He added that the association is ready to support any initiative to increase the patriotic education of young people.
The members of “Sigurnost” expressed their concern about the state of the services in the country and the political harassment that is exerted on them. According to Pavlov, the worst thing is that political leaders do not trust the services and do not adequately use the information they receive from them. According to Lyubomir Dimitrov, a big problem is the blurred responsibilities between the institutions in our country, which allows the problems to deepen instead of being solved. The association’s proposal is to hold round tables throughout the country, attended by former prosecutors, investigators, and researchers, and from these conversations to outline national strategies in various sectors.
