Bulgaria should have a separate agency to counter hybrid attacks.
He called for this on the air of BNR Ivan Anchev, security expert and co-chairman of the Atlantic Council of Bulgaria.
“The goal of the Russian Federation is to sow the shadow of doubt and some empathy towards an absolutely criminal regime. We, as a country, are not ready for countermeasures. We do not have a single unit in the country to counter hybrid attacks. They are different from cyberattacks and will only get bigger.”
As part of these hybrid attacks, he also sees an increase in tensions around the dialogue about the return of conscription.
“I don’t think there is any intention to bring back conscription in any NATO country at the moment. NATO armies are professional.
It is precisely this hybrid element that aims to sow division and discord in society in Bulgaria”.
Anchev analyzed the importance of the aid that the US Senate granted to Ukraine.
“This aid is vitally important to the Ukrainian people and country. It is long overdue, but it is still available. and will enable Ukrainian forces to defend their people from these barbaric attacks by the Russian Federation on housing, energy and any other non-military infrastructure.
This aid is not only military in nature. There is also an inherent financial-budgetary dimension to the very functioning of the Ukrainian state.
It will enable the Ukrainian armed forces to fight back against the aggressors. There should be one, because what is happening now in Ukraine can happen to the whole of Europe.”
Ivan Anchev approves of the changes being prepared in Ukraine, according to which men of conscription age who have left the country will be returned by law.
“I find this action by the Ukrainian government precise and measured. It will be fair because there are not two types of Ukrainians. It is unacceptable to have hundreds of thousands of Ukrainian men out there while their brothers are dying in the trenches defending the country.”
