Deputy Ivan Petkov – Bebeto should lead the list of the BSP in Plovdiv, the active party of the party decided at the city conference last night.
The economist is the only red MP from the city on the hills in the 49th parliament. “Our goal in the upcoming elections is to win 2-3 mandates from Plovdiv in the new parliament,” Ivan Petkov told Maritsa.
This is the fifth consecutive, albeit short-term, parliament he will serve in if elected on June 9. Before becoming an MP, the socialist was a municipal councilor in Plovdiv in opposition to the then mayor Ivan Totev.
The list of the left is complete, 12 candidates have been proposed for participation in the vote in the 16th MIR. Ivan Petkov warned that there is also a discussion by the party’s central leadership, which will make a final decision and indicate which seats will be given to the coalition partners.
In second place on the list is Katya Stoilova, director of the Children’s Center in “Stolipinovo”, in third and fourth places are economists Anastas Angelov and Teodor Hristov, in fifth place – architect Filip Bakalski.
Unlike the BSP, the Plovdiv structure of GERB is quiet. Since the autumn, the mayor Kostadin Dimitrov took over the functions of the regional coordinator in the place of Ivan Totev.
The former mayors Ivan Totev and Zdravko Dimitrov, who have been in GERB since the founding of the party, were also some time ago at the top of the candidate lists and, accordingly, MPs. The winds of change in the party blew them both away. Zico left the local organization after Boyko Borisov publicly demanded his resignation due to slow construction of the College.
Totev was officially sent away with thanks for the service, again at Borisov’s will, and was not even invited to the traditional spring ball, which he himself had been organizing for years. He did not pay the membership fee, his fellow party members explained, but the local GERB headquarters refused to comment. At the opening of the renovated City Garden, the former mayor was among the official guests. The “Central” district explained that they had invited all the previous mayors of Plovdiv, but only Totev responded.
It is certain that Boyko Borisov will lead the list again in Plovdiv, as in all previous parliamentary elections. At the celebration on Friday, he himself said that it depends on the local leadership, and Kostadin Dimitrov immediately confirmed that it is an honor for the members and sympathizers of GERB.
It is likely that the lawyer Radomir Cholakov will be included in the top places in the list. And this time, the current mayors of Plovdiv and the four regions they govern will not participate in the election campaign.
The party’s local headquarters point out that the organization in the regional city has 2,800 members. And since Kostadin Dimitrov headed it, 114 new members have been accepted.
