BGN 7.7 million grant for renovation of “Gergana” home in Varna approved

The project proposal of the Municipality of Varna for reforming the Complex for Social Services for the Elderly “Gergana” under the National Plan for Recovery and Sustainability has been approved. This became clear from a report of the municipal administration in the maritime capital. The total value of the project is BGN 7,680,995.51 and represents a 100% grant.
The scope of the project includes four buildings with a total area of 4,884.30 square meters – a main building with four above-ground floors, a dining room and a kitchen, a laundry room and a garage.
All buildings in the complex are in need of major repairs and remodeling. Energy efficiency measures will be introduced, as well as the installation of a photovoltaic installation in order to reduce heating costs. The adjacent yard space will be renovated and landscaped and an accessible environment for people with disabilities will be provided.
Furniture and equipment that meet the requirements for a safe and comfortable environment for users will be delivered and installed. The project envisages new furniture for 44 double rooms, 8 single rooms and 2 boxoniers for two users each, which will enable the application of an individual approach to the accommodation of the elderly.
Specialized furniture and equipment for the rehabilitation room, the doctor’s office, the manipulation room and the dining room will also be purchased. There will also be new equipment in the occupational therapy club for user food preparation, the group room, the quiet room and library, the administration offices, the staff break rooms and the laundry.
The Municipality of Varna has to conclude a contract with the Ministry of Labor and Social Policy in a few days for the utilization of the funds under the National Plan for Recovery and Sustainability.
The deadline for the project is until 31.12.2025.
