The Mayor Blagomir Kotsev opened a Defense-Mobilization Training Course in the Municipality of Varna

The Mayor Blagomir Kotsev opened a Defense and Mobilization Training Course. The event was held in the “Plenary” hall of the Municipality of Varna. It was attended by the management team and employees from the municipal administration, the head of the central military district, Colonel Georgi Georgiev, the head of the first degree military district responsible for North-Eastern Bulgaria – Lt. Col. Matei Savov, soldiers and citizens.

As mayor, it is extremely important for me to maintain a good dialogue on security-related topics. The Municipality of Varna is in good and fruitful cooperation with all institutions at the state and local level that concern security in our country, including the Ministry of Defense, stressed Mayor Kotsev.

Today’s assembly is a good occasion to check the way the administration works and to check whether we are ready to maintain the quality of activities under different conditions, both in peace and in times of unrest, said Mayor Kotsev. He added that his team is working extremely tight, but the preparation of the administration could be improved on the most important issues related to working in emergency situations. The production of goods, logistics, the evacuation of citizens, resource planning are important topics for which we must be prepared in case of a possible crisis, Mayor Kotsev pointed out.

The municipality of Varna is an example for other Bulgarian municipalities with the annual holding of similar events, Colonel Georgi Georgiev pointed out in his greeting to the participants of the Assembly. According to him, Varna is a model for good interaction with the military territorial authorities, which provides a bridge to all possible tasks and activities connecting the army and civil society. Bulgaria has been at peace for 80 years now, which is the longest period in our 13-century history – a time that we should value, but also not ignore the potential dangers, emphasized Colonel Georgiev.

The purpose of the meeting, convened by the mayor Blagomir Kotsev, is to achieve a more effective implementation of the existing and newly introduced legal framework regulating the activity of defense-mobilization preparation in 2024.
