“Freckled stories” by the famous Bulgarian writer Zdravka Evtimova visited Veliko Tarnovo to the delight of her fans.
The beloved native author was a guest in the old capital as part of the “Foyer of the Book with an Autograph” initiative program.
Zdravka Evtimova talked about the customs of her family, including those of her husband and mother-in-law, who are from Veliko Tarnovo.
The author was introduced by the curator of the house museum “Emiliyan Stanev”, Dr. Radka Pencheva, in the “Slaveyche” branch of the “Petko R. Slaveikov” National Library.
The presentation of the collection “Freckled stories” filled the hall with fans of Zdravka Evtimova’s interesting stories, which reflect the Bulgarian in a warm and funny way. “I want people who read my books to feel that no shackles were created for them; that no one can push them into a corner. To feel that everyone carries a high value within themselves and was born to prove themselves to the world – to prove that they are really worth it and that they earn their place under the sun with dignity, with hard work and with high talent,” shared the famous author.
The writer, who graduated with a degree in “English Philology” from the University of Veliko Tarnovo, told the audience that she sees hope in young translators, because among them there are many good ones in the field.
She also speaks with pathos about the complexity and beauty of the Bulgarian language: “Language is our truest self. The gene of resilience and our ability as Bulgarians to turn the impossible into the achievable is encoded in our language. For me, being Bulgarian means creating such a product that speaks more eloquently than any advertisement. The product itself should create a feeling that the person who invented it deserves not only respect, but also love.”
Zdravka Evtimova also shared her fascination with the Book Foyer, which meets Veliko Tarnovo readers with their favorite authors throughout the month of April.
