In Silistra, the winners of the annual school drawing, essay and story competition “Rainbow of Tolerance” were awarded today. The event is held for the 15th year in a row and is organized by the Municipality of Silistra, the Municipal Council for Cooperation on Ethnic and Integration Issues – Silistra in partnership with the Art Gallery in the city.
This year there were two themes in the competition – “Spring holidays and customs in Bulgaria” “Bulgarian folk costumes and ethnic costumes in the native region”. Children from all over the country participated in it, divided into three age groups – from 1 to 4 grades and from 5 to 8 grades, who had the opportunity to participate with a drawing, and older students from 9 to 12 grades participated with an essay or a story.
The interest in the competition this year was also significant, nearly 150 students from all over the country took part, the municipality announced. The authors of the awarded works received certificates and subject prizes from the deputy mayor Steliyan Stoichev. The prize fund is provided by the Municipality of Silistra.
The purpose of the competition is to present the cultural wealth of the different ethnic groups in Silistra and the region and to reveal the role of art and speech for the spiritual and personal growth of each generation. The competition also contributes to the affirmation of values ​​among adolescents, which preserve the distinctive Bulgarian tradition and culture on a par with that of the ethnic groups in Bulgaria.
