An interesting discussion took place on the popular “Varna” Facebook page. The reason was a post by a man who plans to settle with his family in the seaside town. The family currently living in Cyprus is a family of four with two girls aged 2 and 4.

The man asked a few specific questions:

“What is the average budget for residence per month?

Are there free places in kindergartens and schools?

Which area/neighborhood would you recommend and why?

(We are looking for an area/neighborhood where everything is close to kindergartens, schools, supermarkets, hospitals, pharmacies, parks, etc.)”

In just hours, hundreds of answers, tips and opinions appeared under the post. Some of them are quite extreme, with many advising the family to give up their plans for Varna, and to look for a life in Plovdiv or Burgas as more settled cities. Others succumb to local chauvinism, and there are claims that there is no better city than Varna in all of Europe.

Among the more practical answers, there is much advice for the family not to seek life in the center but in the peripheral neighborhoods. The most praised are “Asparuhovo”, “Vazrazhdane 2”, “Mladost”, and also Vladislavovo.

There are many opinions on the issue of the monthly budget. In general, however, everyone emphasizes that without owning a home, rent will be the main feature in it. Most are of the opinion that the family will need BGN 5,000 per month in order not to be miserable.

People who have passed this way and are already residents of Varna also shared quite interesting observations:

“We moved from Sofia to Varna and we are very satisfied. Of course, there are some disturbances everywhere, but life here is much more pleasant, especially with children. Compared to Sofia, everything seems close to us.”

“It took me 10 years for the neighbors to start greeting me (from the moment I changed the car with a Varna license plate).”

There are many suggestions that the family should not settle in the city, but in one of the villages such as Oreshak, Kichevo and Kumanovo. For many, it is a much better way of life that can be found just 15 minutes away from Varna.
