Experts from RUO visited NU “Otets Paisii” for World Book and Copyright Day : Vestnik Zname

On the occasion of World Book and Copyright Day on April 23, 2024. guests at NU “Otets Paisiy”, Pazardzhik, were Iliyana Petrova – senior expert on primary education, Galina Tsaneva – senior expert on Bulgarian language and literature and Albena Dimitrova – senior expert on OSO. They read to the third, fourth and second graders “The Tale of the Gluttonous Pike” by Angel Karaliychev, part of the novel “Tom Sawyer” by Mark Twain, and good advice from “A Primer with Different Lessons” – a phototype edition of “A Fish Primer” with author Peter Beron. Albena Dimitrova presented the book “Nebivalitsi” by Donald Bisset for the class library.

The meetings with the experts from RUO were pleasant, exciting, inspiring and hopeful. Students presented their favorite children’s books, shared why they liked them and recommended them to their peers.

The questions, the conversations and the experience will remain an unforgettable experience, which was made meaningful by the relationship between us – to turn reading into an even greater wealth.

In 1995 UNESCO decided to make it an International Book and Copyright Day. April 23 was chosen as the date. By celebrating such a day, UNESCO tries to encourage as many young people as possible to discover the joy of reading, while at the same time showing its respect for the irreplaceable contribution of those behind the creation of each book.
