The Municipal Council meets at a regular meeting on Thursday – April 25, at 10:00 a.m. in the “Plenary” hall of the Municipality of Varna. The preliminary agenda includes 12 items.

The advisers will determine who will be this year’s winners of the “Varna” award in the field of culture, science and education. A total of 30 individuals and teams with outstanding achievements in their field in the last year have been nominated for the prestigious award.

Changes to the Ordinance on the organization of traffic on the territory of the municipality are also included in the agenda. If they are approved, there will be new rules for the movement of electric scooters in Varna.

Among the points is a proposal to provide additional funds from the local treasury for the implementation of projects in the educational infrastructure. The main funding is provided by the National Plan for Recovery and Sustainability and by the program of the Ministry of Education and Science for the construction and repair of nurseries, kindergartens and schools. However, additional financial resources are needed for the implementation of the projects, which will be provided by the Municipality of Varna.

The update on the basic monthly salaries of the mayors of regions and town halls is also on the agenda. Councilors must also decide whether there should be a change in the minimum and maximum taxi passenger fares per kilometer.

A proposal for changes to the Regulations for the organization and activity of the Municipal Council – Varna will also be considered, according to which a group in the local parliament will be able to be formed by three councilors, instead of four, as is the case now.

The release of one-time social benefits is also included in the agenda.

Traditionally, the meeting will end with a discussion with the citizens.

The full agenda is published on the website of the Municipal Council – Varna, section “Meetings”. The session will be broadcast in real time through the institution’s YouTube channel.
