Coalition “Continuing Change – Democratic Bulgaria” (PP-DB) has registered to participate in the upcoming 2 in 1 elections on June 9 – for MPs and MEPs.

“I want to say something important to our voters. We will neither give up, nor surrender, nor let the state be governed by Delyan Peevski. Nor will we allow clubs like Sarafov (acting chief prosecutor Borislav Sarafov) to continue to rule behind the scenes. We will not let the country be run by some unreformed policemen. We will continue to fight until the dream of a normal European country is achieved. I believe that there are enough free people in Bulgaria who do not want to surrender their country of Peevski, services, Sarafov and I believe that when they go to the polls they will cast their ballot for a normal European state”said PP co-chairman Kiril Petkov, after the formation submitted its documents for participation in the vote.

When asked how PP-DB will explain to their voters that they governed with GERB and DPS, DB co-chairman Hristo Ivanov answered:

“We will actually explain it with what we were ready to work with them for and we are ready to work from now on – namely to make reforms. There is no contradiction, we worked in the name of specific institutional reforms that were thwarted because we were driven to elections so that they are not completed. It is because of these reforms that we are going to the elections now and we will be looking for a majority that is ready to carry them out. This is our main task and I think that the voters will have the opportunity to decide”.

Ivanov emphasized that the majority after the elections will first be whatever the voters decide. “Let’s see what the picture will be. But from our point of view, the majority that we are willing to enter and take responsibility is only such a majority that is willing to carry out these reforms. We have proposed a draft agreement that very clearly outlines the concrete reforms for the sake of which we are ready to work and remain in this position”.

In his words “red lines will be drawn by those who do not want reforms, and from PP-DB we are looking for majorities for these reforms”.

The sixth parliamentary elections in the last 3 years are coming up on June 9. They came to this after GERB and PP-DB failed to understand how to continue the governance of the country between them and the prime ministerial rotation planned last year failed. GERB claims that it came about because of a misunderstanding about ministerial posts, while according to PP-DB, the explosion of negotiations came from GERB after it was understood that DPS would not have a guaranteed role for regulators and the judiciary. During the 10 months in which the regular government of Nikolay Denkov ruled, DPS supported the parliamentary majority, and Delyan Peevski publicly imposed the role of spokesman on key decisions of the administration.
