Student Maria Georgieva from Class XII A of AEG “Geo Milev” was accepted to the prestigious American Harvard University with a full scholarship at the end of March.
In August 2024, Maria will officially step foot on the Boston campus, beginning her academic career as a student of political science and political philosophy.
The application process begins intensively for Maria already at the end of the 2022-2023 academic year. The application she submits is multi-component – it contains motivational letters from mentors and teachers, academic references and academic achievements, a list describing her extracurricular activities and, of course, a series of six thematic essays.
However, she skilfully avoided the difficulties, consulting with the specialists of the free consultation platform EducationUSA and the Opportunity Funds program, of which Maria became a grantee already at the beginning of the 2023 calendar year.
Despite the obstacles encountered, Maria is convinced that there is nothing essential that distinguishes Harvard students apart from their dedication and love for what they do. Therefore, she sincerely believes in the possibility of any hard-working dreamer becoming a part of schools like Harvard.
On this topic, Maria shares: “I didn’t believe it could happen to me! I always thought that to be accepted in such a place, you have to be something like a Nobel laureate at 18 years old. Actually, there is no such thing. It is this that leads me to believe that many of the people I know are competitive candidates for places in these prestigious educational institutions.’
