“Pthe arties, who are supposedly at war with Putin, when they came back to power, instead of finalizing these tenders and importing liquefied gas, they went back to their favorite pastime of importing Russian gas en masse through intermediaries. Last year we imported 1.7 billion cubic meters of such gas. Therefore, the contract with Botash, this capacity, remains unused. And instead of selling through this capacity and Bulgaria winning, they accepted this absurd energy contribution, with which they destroyed the trust in Bulgaria as a partner and scratched us as a potential gas supplier”. This was stated by President Rumen Radev.

“I consciously waited for the hysteria about “Botash” to reach its peak, in order to see the effect of the incompetent and hypocritical attitude towards a complex and important matter for our energy security.

I call on the people’s representatives with the same bait with which they pounced on the contract with “Botash” to check why the capacity under this contract remains unused – for internal consumption and for sales abroad.

A thorough check must be carried out from where and what kind of gas we import,” commented President Rumen Radev.

According to him, many of the deputies do not understand the truth.

“When they were in power, they stopped the contract with Gazprom and declared that we will never import Russian gas again. Appropriate measures were introduced, then came the interim government of Donov and there was no gas – only one billion cubic meters from Azerbaijan. The only way to supply the remaining missing amount to guarantee the annual consumption – about two billion cubic meters – was through the supply of liquefied gas. Hence the political breakthrough with Turkey – gaining access to all 5 of their LNG terminals. Donov’s government announced tenders. But the parties that are supposedly at war with Putin, when they returned to power, instead of finalizing these tenders and importing liquefied gas, they returned to their favorite pastime of massively importing Russian gas through intermediaries,” added Radev.

“Instead of selling through this capacity and Bulgaria winning, they accepted this absurd energy contribution, with which they destroyed the trust in Bulgaria as a partner and scratched us as a potential gas supplier.

The probability that the contract for the transfer of gas from Russia through Ukraine to Europe will not be renewed from the beginning of next year is huge.

Then, suddenly, Austria, Slovakia, Hungary and other countries will be in dire need of new sources and routes for gas, and the Botas contract could be extremely profitable. But in order for Bulgaria to win, competence and national interests must be placed above party and personal interests,” noted Radev.

Regarding “Botash”, the caretaker prime minister stated that the president has no way of assigning him tasks.

I fully support Dimitar Glavchev in his choice for any minister. The responsibility is his, Rumen Radev also said.

He commented on the nomination of Elena Yoncheva as a candidate for MEP from DPS as follows: “Everyone is free to seek support where he sees fit, but he is responsible for his decisions.”

Rumen Radev noted that decisive and convincing actions must be taken by both the government and the Central Electoral Commission in order to guarantee a fair vote in the elections.

He thanked the deputies in the National Assembly for taking emergency measures to end the outflow from the army by increasing salaries.
