The new coach of the men’s national volleyball team of Bulgaria, Gianlorenzo Blengini, has announced a list of 30 players who have been shortlisted for the upcoming League of Nations tournament. It is noteworthy that the coach will mainly rely on young volleyball players for the competition.

The long-time captain Tsvetan Sokolov, as well as the distributor Georgi Seganov, are retiring from the national team.

The names of only six more experienced players appear in the composition. Blocker Svetoslav Gotsev (33), libero Martin Bozhilov (36) and distributor Dobromir Dimitrov (32) are over 30 years old. The other three with more serious experience are Martin Atanasov (27), Stefan Chavdarov (28) and Nikolay Kurtev (28).

The team kicks off the Nations League on May 21 against France in Antalya. Bulgaria’s opponents on Turkish soil will also be the teams of Canada, the USA and the Netherlands.
