About 3,300 children who are enrolled in municipal nurseries and kindergartens in Varna are accepted above the legally established norm, a study by several non-governmental organizations has shown. The increase in the number of children in the crèche is from 5 to 20, and in the groups from 1 to 15, Denitsa Stefanova, from the Association “Educational Community-Varna”, told Radio Varna. In practice, it turns out that there are 30 in the groups. – 31 children, and this automatically lowers the quality of teachers’ work with them, she added.

The entire study will be presented at a press conference today at 11:00 a.m. in the Art Salon of Radio Varna, to which representatives of educational institutions in the city, RZI, parents and citizens are invited to attend.

Parents will also be informed about the Compensation Ordinance, according to which parents whose children are not admitted to municipal nurseries or kindergartens are entitled to financial compensation from the municipality.

According to Denitsa Stefanova, the unit is the families that benefited from the compensation in question, and there are many who do not know about it. According to her, the municipality of Varna has a budget for the compensations in question, but it is questionable how effective is the mechanism by which they are paid. Stefanova calls for a general dialogue between all parties involved in the preschool preparation process in order to solve the problems in the short term and to work together in the future.
