A brigade from the Kyustendil DPS cleaned the cemetery in the village of Granitsa, N. Zlatarski: It was a jungle, it grew for 15 years in freedom – 4VLAST

A brigade from the Kyustendil DPS rolled up its sleeves and cleaned the cemetery in the Kyustendil village of Granitsa. The regional coordinator Nikolai Zlatarsky shared that it took the volunteers a whole to tame the rampant vegetation. Thanks to the support from the municipality of Kyustendil, the action was successfully carried out. The mayor Ognyan Atanasov sent two trucks, an excavator and a group of workers from the municipal cleaning company to help.

“We found a terrible sight, a real jungle, impassable. Locals say it hasn’t been cleaned in over 15 years. Our attention was directed to this problem by the chairman of the local structure of the DPS in the village, Tatiana Andonova. The mayor of Granitsa did not lift a finger. So we decided to take matters into our own hands.

We are grateful that we met the support of the mayor of Kyustendil municipality, Ognyan Atanasov, who gave us full support. The issue was raised at a meeting of the Municipal Council and after discussions with him, things happened. It took us a whole day to clear the field, a lot of bushes and other vegetation were cut, but we managed. We worked a group of about 15 people. We’ve shown that if there’s a will, there’s a way. And it doesn’t necessarily cost a lot of money,” commented Nikolay Zlatarski of the district.
