Representatives of the regional structure of KT “Podkrepa” in V. Tarnovo for another year will participate in the traditional festive procession on the occasion of Labor Day – May 1. It will be held in Sofia and about 40 people from the region will take part in it, together with the chairman of the trade union in the old capital – Deshka Mandikova. Anyone sympathetic to the cause is also welcome, the organization says.
The march is organized by KT “Support” and aims to remind that May 1 is the day of workers, thanks to whose united struggle for rights today there is an 8-hour working day, sick pay, benefits, child allowances and other social benefits are paid. It will start at 11 a.m. from “Sveta Nedelya” square in the capital and around 12:30 p.m. it will reach the “Land and People” museum, where the annual “Rock for Labor” concert will begin. In it, famous Bulgarian rock bands and performers such as Vasko Krpkata and “Poduene Blues Band”, “Sprint”, “Atlas”, “Competitor”, Milena, Koceto Kalki and “Medicus”, “Horizon”, “Syndicat” and others through the performances they will express their sympathy for all working people.
This year’s march is organized under the title “Jobs, wages and security”, because in the conditions of the current reality, these factors are decisive for the peace and sustainable development of our society. The focus is on the geopolitical and environmental challenges, as a result of which Bulgaria faces the threat of losing thousands of jobs, difficult to predict electricity prices, problems with the supply of raw materials for production and loss of markets, commented Mandikova.
KT “Podkrepa” stressed that May 1 is a holiday of labor and worker solidarity among all workers, united by their social and labor interests, regardless of their political orientation. Because trade unions need to be equally distant from all political formations in the name of their objective goal, namely – comprehensive protection of the working people they represent.
