97,070 are the voters in the Smolyan region, included in the preliminary lists for the elections for members of the European Parliament, and for the elections for people’s representatives in our country in the elections on June 9, 2024, the lists include 96 107 voters.

This was announced to Radio Plovdiv by the new chairperson of the 22nd Regional Election Commission in Smolyan, Tanya Svetlinova.

She pointed out that 260 polling stations have been set up in the district so far, not including the mobile stations, which will be set up at a later stage.

There is no up-to-date information on the number of machines that the 22nd RIC-Smolyan will request, as the CEC has not yet announced on its page the sections with machine voting, explained Svetlinova. In the Smolyan region, elections are held in 10 municipalities, but not all of them will have voting machines. According to the Election Code, sections with more than 300 voters must have one voting machine.

The regular meetings of the 22nd RIC in Smolyan will be on Monday and Thursday at 6 p.m.. If necessary, extraordinary meetings of the commission will be convened.

13 are the members of the Regional Election Commission in Smolyan, and in addition to the chairman, there are four vice-chairmen and one secretary.

The commission already held its first meeting yesterday, and the decisions taken are organizational – such as marking the seal of the RIC, the place where the commission will be housed, the people who will replace and sign the chairman and the secretary, the numbering of RIC decisions, internal rules for incoming and outgoing correspondence.

Svetlinova also said that the only non-organizational decision made was the determination of the deadline for the registration of the initiative committees in the Smolyan RIC for participation in the elections for people’s representatives – the deadline is May 4, 2024. And the deadline for the registration of the parties is until May 7.

Our appeal to the voters is to vote, regardless of how it will be done, said the chairwoman of the 22nd RIC Smolyan.

The CEC appointed ex officio Tanya Svetlinova from DPS as the chairman of the 22nd RIC in Smolyan, and Dobrin Todorov from “Vazrazhdane” was elected secretary.

Tanya Svetlinova is from Smolyan and is an information security engineer by education. She was a member of the Regional Election Commission five times, and in the last local elections she was the secretary of the Municipal Election Commission
