The presentation “Love as a Commodity” directed by Damian Tenev is based on the play “The Good Man of Szechuan” by Bertolt Brecht. After “Sumatoha” (2022) and “Colonel Bird” (2018), this is the third title that Damian puts on the Staro Zagorje stage. Drama Theater “Geo Milev” is betting on one of the most significant poets and playwrights of the 20th century. It is among Bertolt Brecht’s most famous works.
Another premiere is coming up on May 1 (after that of the production in April) – the official presentation of the music video for the song “Cuckoo Day”. The author’s piece, which will be released first on the theater’s social networks, is by the famous guitarist and composer of the group “Ostava” Georgi Georgiev. The musicians (part of the theater team) are Krasimir Geshev, Todor Dosev, Boris Atanasov, Boris Borisov and vocal actress Simona Todorova. The clip was shot by Ventsislav Todorov. Da hole “BRECHT BAND“is withspecially formed for the performance and performs live songs based on poems by Bertolt Brecht during the production.

She is a prostitute from the Chinese province of Sichuan and tries to be good in a society steeped in corruption, poverty and injustice. Pressed by the circumstances, she is forced to start acting as a bad and unscrupulous person in order to survive. Will the kind-hearted Shen Te be able to maintain her own moral principles, or will she change?
In the so-called Brecht’s epic theater the world is as it is. But by exposing the audience to a wide range of conflicting elements, they will come to their own conclusions. Brecht’s theater reveals a world that can be changed.
“Great authors ask questions, and when the viewer comes and finds that question that excites him while watching, he reaches his conclusions about life, about society and about man. For me, the questions being asked are more important. And they have to do with the primal things about good and evil and how it intertwines in our society, how it intertwines within ourselves, and how you can’t completely isolate them because they’re interwoven. And Yin and Yang always exist,” commented the director of the Geo Milev Theater, Svetla Todorova.
Actors Georgi Georgiev, Krasimir Nenkov, Svetla Todorova, Velin Bratanov, Georgi Nozhdelov, Borche Manev, Maria Eneva, Georgi Raichev, Tony Toncheva, Zhoro Raichev, Ilcho Dimitrov, Tsvetomir Cherkezov, Stefan Borisov, Milenka Sotirova, Simona Todorova take part in the performance.
