The regional historical museum in Silistra and the local bar association are organizing a meeting – a conversation about the new book by Assoc. Dean Martin Ivanov “The former people of concentration camp Bulgaria”. This was announced by the museum in a post on Facebook.

The book will be presented by the director of the cultural institution, associate professor Dr. Nikolay Todorov. The meeting is scheduled for April 29, Monday, in the hall of the Archaeological Museum in Silistra.

“We will get to know the fate of nearly 500,000 Bulgarians, to whom the totalitarian government denies the right to a full civil existence and guarantees their physical and moral destruction. We will learn how an elite was liquidated, which is at the basis of the modernization of the Bulgarian state, in its economic rise and its transformation into an equal to the European countries in the period between the two world wars,” the museum’s publication says.

The author, Associate Professor Martin Ivanov, is a lecturer in the Department of Sociology of the Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski”. He specialized in Cambridge, Edinburgh and the National University of Ireland. He has written over two hundred scientific publications and ten monographic studies on the social and economic history of Bulgaria from the Renaissance to the present day.
