The regional election commission in Smolyan officially entered into its powers. Its chairman, Tanya Svetlinova, was appointed ex officio by the CEC, after the parties did not agree on the place during the consultations held with the regional governor.

The regional election commission in Smolyan consists of 13 members. President Tanya Svetlinova has four vice-presidents nominated by different political forces. Secretary Dobrin Todorov was also appointed ex officio by the CEC. The commission has already started work and received its stamp.

“We received the stamp from the regional governor Zahari Sirakov, one issue, all the details specified in the decision of the Central Election Commission of April 10th have been observed, it is round, with one ring inscribed with the text “RIK Smolyan”, as well as the abbreviations for the European Parliament and national representatives We are working with him and we can now certify the holding of legitimate elections, he told eTV Tanya Svetlinova – chairwoman of RIC-Smolyan

There is already preliminary information on the number of voters in the region.

“There are 97,070 voters for the elections for members of the European Parliament from the Republic of Bulgaria. And according to preliminary lists for the elections for people’s representatives, there are 96,107 voters,” Svetlinova specified. According to her, the difference is due to the fact that there are European citizens who will vote here. She expressed hope for an active vote.

The deadline for submission of applications by initiative committees for the elections for people’s representatives is currently running. Electoral sections must be formed by RIC by May 4.
