The participants in the 52nd edition of the national competition for debut literature planted a cedar this morning in the “South Spring” alley of the “Kenana” Haskovo park.
The Alley “South Spring” was restored on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Literary Days, when 50 cedars were planted there. Since then, every year the participants of the competition add another tree to the alley to count down the years of the only competition in Bulgaria for young authors who have published their first book in the last year.
Today is the first meeting of the participants in “South Spring” with the jury. 30 authors are participating in the National Debut Literature Competition this year. Since its inception, 154 debut authors have been awarded the “Laureate” title. The chairman of the jury is Prof. Dr. Valery Stefanov, and the members are: Prof. Dr. Plamen Antov, Assoc. Dr. Mladen Vlashki, Yordan Velchev and Mitko Lambov.
Who are the laureates of “South Spring” 2024 will become clear tomorrow, at the official awarding ceremony at 6 p.m. in the “Kirkovo School” house-museum.
Today in the Children’s Department of RB “Hr. Smyrna” Magda Borisova presented the book “How Princess Magda saved her castle”. At 2:30 p.m. in front of the library is the meeting point for a tourist tour of Haskovo for the participants of the National Debut Literature Contest “South Spring”.
From 6:00 p.m. in the House-Museum of Kirkovo School, the exhibition “Haskovski Wakers” will be opened, after which Zahari Karabashliev will present his novel “Rana”.
The final event of the day is from 8 p.m. in the large hall of the “Ivan Dimov” DKT, where the premiere of the documentary film “Feeling for Poetry” will take place with the participation of Valentina Radinska, Aksinia Mihailova and Mitko Lambov, who is also part of the jury of “Southern Spring” this year.
