The municipal councilors voted today at a session of the local parliament to start a procedure for the financial recovery of the Municipality of Kardzhali. This is another attempt to discipline those who are missing from the municipal treasury and the payment of debts. The Municipality of Kardzhali is in debt for over 30 million BGN, and only until the end of the year will have to repay an interest-free loan from the republican budget for BGN 6 million.
In a report to the municipal councilors, the chairman of the local parliament, Muharrem Muharrem, indicated that in connection with the Notification received with our Ex. No. 241 of 17.04.2024 by the Mayor of the Municipality of Kardzhali and pursuant to Art. 130e, para. 3 of the Law on Public Finances, I propose to adopt the following decisions after discussion:

Pursuant to Art. 21, para. 1, item 23 of the ZMSMA, in connection with Art. 130e, para. 3 of the Law on Public Finances, Municipal Council – Kardzhali DECIDES:
OPENS a procedure for the financial rehabilitation of the Municipality of Kardzhali.
DUTY of the Mayor of the municipality to prepare a recovery plan and hold a public discussion of the plan with the local community.
DETERMINES a deadline for the preparation of the plan until 25.05.2024. The public discussion to be held within the deadlines under Art. 130e of the Law on Public Finances.
