Mayor Dobrin Dobrev presented the rich cultural program of Razgrad Municipality for the May holidays (VIDEO)

Mayor Dobrin Dobrev presented to local journalists today the rich cultural program related to the May holidays. He invited the residents and guests of Razgrad municipality to attend and participate in the different types of events from the cultural calendar. It features both traditional and community-favourite events, as well as new elements to them.

Preparations for the Easter holidays have already begun with the festive decorations in the central part of the city. The workers from OP “Parkstroy” placed a total of 13 colorful Easter eggs in the garden opposite the Courthouse, in front of the Polyclinic, next to the monument of Master Manol and in front of the Druzhba store. Styrofoam eggs were painted by the children of Razgrad in previous years during the now traditional Holy Thursday event.

Part of the holiday calendar is the Easter concert of the Kapan ensemble, which is tonight at 6:30 pm in the Municipal Cultural Center. If our fellow citizens have not bought tickets, I think they still have, I am convinced that the event deserves the attention of the Razgrad public – said the mayor Dobrin Dobrev.

Sunday is Palm Sunday, and Razgrad also has traditions on this day that we continue to observe. At 11:00 a.m. on April 28, on “Vazrazhdane” Square in front of the Old Theater, the “Kalina Rada” Dance Studio and “Ilia Burnev” Music School will hold a reenactment of the customs characteristic of this holiday.

Over the weekend, Razgrad is hosting the eighth edition of the National Festival “Theatre in Motion”. It is organized by the Theater and Dance Formation “Pulse” and the Agency “Genesis” with the financial support of the Municipality of Razgrad. Admission is free to the performances in the hall of the “Development 1869” on Saturdays and Sundays, the program is published on the website of the Municipality of Razgrad.

In the week between Palm Sunday and Easter, the festive decoration of Razgrad will be enriched with 3 more large styrofoam eggs, painted by the young talents of Razgrad from the School of Fine Arts at the CPLR Center for Work with Children. The painting of decorative eggs will take place again this year on Maundy Thursday – the day on which tradition dictates that Easter eggs be painted. The event is organized by the Municipality of Razgrad and the Center for Work with Children. On May 2, new elements are included in the event and we invite our fellow citizens to come to Nezavisimost Square in front of the New Theater with their children – announced Mayor Dobrin Dobrev. The holiday next Thursday starts at 12 noon. A huge Easter bunny will welcome us on the square, with which the children will have the opportunity to have fun and take pictures. There will be 3 large eggs to paint. They have provided competitive games with children and parents, as well as a “Find the egg” game. There will be themed prizes for the winners.

The Day of Courage and the Bulgarian Army will be celebrated by the Municipality of Razgrad on “Vazrazhdane” Square in front of the monument of Saint George. The main organizer of the St. George’s Day celebration is the Regional Union of Reserve and Reserve Officers and Sergeants. The celebration begins at 11:00 a.m. on May 6.

On May 9, there will again be events aimed mostly at young people, but not only at them. Then the initiative of the Regional Information Center and Razgrad Municipality “Days of Europe” will take place. After the traditional bicycle tour of objects from European projects, there will be a raffle for the participants, and then the winners of the spring cleaning organized by the Municipality of Razgrad will be awarded. After that – between 16:30 and 17:00 on the square in front of the New Theater, the raffle drawing for the “Trash Candies” action will begin.

On May 11, we celebrate a significant date in the history of Razgrad culture. The “Iron Strings” Choir at the “Development 1869” National Theater is celebrating 120 years since its establishment. It is one of the oldest choir formations in the country. At the holiday concert, the performance of the Anthem by the “Iron Strings” choir, the music for which was written by the composer of “Great is our soldier” Mikhail Shekerdzhiev, will be restored.

On May 18, our city is hosting the 14th edition of the National Folk Festival “Kapanska Kitka” for folk dance clubs. It is organized by the “Buzludzha 2010” Elementary School, Razgrad,
Dance Club “Abritus” and Razgrad Municipality. The festival will be held in the Municipal Cultural Center, admission is free.

In the Municipality of Razgrad, preparations have already begun for the next public holiday – May 24 – The day of the holy brothers Cyril and Methodius, of the Bulgarian alphabet, education and culture and of Slavic literature. It will start from “Vazrazhdane” square, where wreaths and flowers will be placed in front of the monument of the students of the holy brothers Cyril and Methodius, after which a procession of representatives of educational and cultural institutions will go to “Momina Cheshma” square (Largo). There, the “Nikola Ikonomov”, “Golden Pegasus” and “Outstanding Graduate” awards will be presented, and the celebration will end with a concert by Nikolina Chakardakova.

Municipality of Razgrad is also preparing a surprise for this year’s graduates. They will walk along a red path in the City Park on their way to the site of their first prom. They will also have the opportunity to take pictures on a specially made arch with the inscription “Vipusk 2024”.

Mayor Dobrin Dobrev thanked all municipal departments, enterprises and units, as well as the cultural institutions involved in organizing these events.
