The revenue from overnight stays in February 2024 in the Targovishte region is BGN 163,400. This is 21.6 percent more than in February 2023, the Territorial Bureau of Statistics – North-East informs, citing data on the activity of accommodation facilities in the region.
During the month, 14 places of accommodation with 10 or more beds – hotels, motels, lodges and other places for short-term accommodation – operated in the district. The number of rooms in them is 313, and the number of beds – 601. The number of accommodation places is unchanged compared to the end of 2023, according to a BTA report. Only in September last year they were one less. The specialists from the “Statistical Research” department at TSB explain this fact with the seasonal closure of facilities.
The total number of nights registered in February this year is 2037. This is 7.7 percent more compared to the same month of the previous year. The overnight stays realized by Bulgarian citizens increased by 16.3 percent, while those by foreign citizens decreased by 30.7 percent.
With the largest relative share of realized overnight stays by foreign citizens in accommodation facilities in the region is Turkey – 49.8 percent, followed by Italy – 9.2 percent, Spain and the Netherlands – 6.7 percent each.
The persons who stayed overnight in February 2024 increased by 21.5 percent compared to the corresponding month of 2023 and were 1,501.
The total occupancy of beds in accommodation facilities in February 2024 was 12 percent, and compared to the same month of 2023, it decreased by 1.5 percentage points, adds senior expert Boyan Bonchev.
The statistical study of the activity of accommodation facilities has been conducted monthly in our country since 2012.
