The new chairman of the BSP, Stefan Shtiliyanov, presented the position of the group of councilors during the discussion of the budget forecast for 2025-2027 for the receipts from local revenues and the expenses for local activities of the municipality. He recalled that three budget forecasts were made last year and none of them included an increase in the garbage fee. He also pointed out that in recent years the per thousand has not been increased, which in the near future will lead to a shocking almost double increase.

Shtiliyanov also emphasizes the high percentage of co-financing from other sources and that the costs of garbage collection and removal in Sliven are higher than other municipalities. He added that the budget forecast requires further analysis and should not be accepted as such.

Mayor Stefan Radev /GERB/ contested the figures indicated by Shtiliyanov and announced that the costs of garbage collection and cleanliness in Sliven are among the lowest in the country.

“I have been in the GERB party since its foundation. I’ve been in politics for a long time and this is the first time I’ve heard the BSP criticize the ruling party, and in particular GERB, for not increasing the mileage and garbage tax. This is a good compliment for us. Thank you!” – commented from the rostrum the chairman of the municipal council Dimitar Mitev.

The budget forecast was adopted with 28 in favor and 8 abstentions.
