AEZ-Bulgaria invites Bulgarian journalists and media specialists to participate in a webinar with the American journalist of Palestinian origin Rami Khouri. He has over 50 years of experience in topics related to Middle East issues. The conversation will focus on the coverage of the war in Gaza and will be held online on April 29 at 19:00. The event will be moderated by Dimitar Kenarov, a journalist and writer who has covered the conflicts in Iraq and Ukraine.

According to Reporters Without Borders, 105 journalists have lost their lives in the conflict between Israel and Hamas in Gaza to date, with at least 22 of them killed in the line of duty. Against the backdrop of unprecedented casualties, calls from international journalistic organizations and human rights groups to ensure the protection of journalists and civilians, as well as working conditions in the field for local and foreign reporters, remain unanswered.

Is adequate coverage of the war in Gaza even possible? What are the main challenges for journalists seeking the truth in the bloody conflict? What is the important local context that foreign media and journalists often miss? What’s ahead? These are some of the questions to which we will seek answers with Rami Khoury.

Participation in the webinar is free, but registration is required. Please complete the form by 4pm on April 29th and you will receive a link to enter. A translation into Bulgarian is planned.
