We expect a good and average harvest this year, the deputy director of the Institute of Agriculture in Kyustendil, Prof. Dr. Dimitar Sotirov, told BTA.
He indicated that within a few days it will be known the amount of fertilized fruits, which may have been adversely affected by the high temperatures at the beginning of the month. It is also important whether the rains will stop, because otherwise it can happen like last year – the fruits rot, Prof. Sotirov also commented.
For now, however, the forecasts are for a good harvest, assured the Institute of Agriculture in Kyustendil.
The municipality of Kyustendil organized a meeting with cherry growers, the administration announced. The meeting will take place tomorrow, at 1:00 p.m., in the municipality of Kyustendil. Cherry producers and representatives of companies that buy and process the products are invited to participate.
The topic of the working meeting is the upcoming campaign in Kyustendil municipality. The representatives of the Regional Directorate of the Police will also take part in the discussion, in connection with the upcoming campaign for the protection of the cherry groves.
