On April 24, 2024, the Local Commission for Combating Trafficking in Human Beings (MKBTH), the city of Sliven in partnership with the Municipality of Sliven and A21 Bulgaria, conducted a specialized training on the topic: “Identifying the forms of violence against women deprived of liberty with a focus controlling mental suffering, supporting the process of successful social reintegration and prevention of human trafficking”.

The event is organized by Vladimir Drumev, secretary of the ICBC – Sliven, in implementation of the Program for the prevention and counteraction of human trafficking and protection of victims for 2024 d., Section III “Training and qualification of personnel”.

The forum was opened by Pepa ChilikovaDeputy Mayor Humanitarian Activities” of the Municipality of Sliven and the chairman of the IKBTH – Sliven and Monika Nikolova, executive director of A21 Bulgaria.

The main strategic goal of the specialized training is to increase the qualifications of inspectors of social work and educational work, psychologists and employees from the supervisory and security staff of Closes Sliven to the General Directorate “Execution of sentences”, Ministry of Justice.

Within the framework of the training, emphasis was placed on coping approaches of the mental suffering of women deprived of liberty on purpose supporting the process of their successful social reintegration after serving the sentence and leaving the prison, with a focus on preventing involvement in the various exploatational forms of the crime human trafficking.

Lecturers of the specialized training were Dr. Vesela Banova, clinical psychologist, psychoanalyst and doctor of sociology, manager of the “Tolk Psychoanalytical Institute” and Diana Kitova, psychologist and psychotherapist, head of the National Telephone Line for Combating Human Trafficking – 080020100.

Within the initiative, 21 employees were trained Closes Sliven to the General Directorate “Execution of sentences”, Ministry of Justice.
