Municipal councilor Blagovest Georgiev, who caused a minor traffic accident in Sofia, from which he escaped, to resign from the Metropolitan Municipal Council. His colleagues from PP-DB-Spasi Sofia – the group of which he was a part – called for this.
Georgiev will be excluded from the three commissions of which he is a member. However, by law he must be a member of at least one committee, and it will be the Committee for Civil Society, informed Boris Bonev.
The municipal councilor, who was part of the Traffic Safety Commission, caused an accident on the capital’s Dragan Tsankov boulevard on the evening of April 5. He then tried to flee the scene, but was stopped by the police. He refused to give an alcohol and drug test.
Afterwards, the group of municipal councilors of the coalition announced that they were ready to accept his resignation and described his behavior as unacceptable.
