There is a record number of criminal proceedings against Bulgaria in the “Environment” sector. This is what Borislav Sandov, one of the leaders of the Green Movement, warned in the program “Who’s Talking” on Darik.

“When I was a minister I had to fight with 17 and we made it so that they became ten. And for the last official governments and the last one regularly went up to 19. Bulgaria has the most criminal procedures in the “Environment” sector, said Sandov.

One of the discussed news from the last week is the decision of the “Green Movement” to appear in the elections for the National Assembly and the European Parliament separately from the DB coalition.

“Our policies, which are pan-European, were left as a last resort. None of our bills could be moved, which is why Bulgaria continues to get mired in dirt and in criminal procedures regarding the environment,” said Sandov.

He added that the Ministry of Environment and Water did not move forward with any reforms.

“There was no hearing for our ideas. We have not insisted on appointing a minister, although in my opinion, it would be most appropriate in a government of such responsibility to have a person who deliberated on this topic and on this matter,” said Sandov.

A few months ago, “Green Movement” withdrew confidence from the Minister of the Environment, Julian Popov. According to Sandov, with reason, since he “only started some things and nothing is finished.

He accused Kiril Petkov from the PP of having lied to the “Green Movement” that the only GERB minister in the government with Prime Minister Nikolay Denkov was Maria Gabriel.

“This was a condition on which our four MPs agreed to support this minority and shared responsibility government. It turned out later that this was not true and that he had lied to us. It did not comply with our intention and desire to have reforms in at least several areas, they remained in the last place,” said Sandov.

He added that there were insinuations that their policies did not interest them, and in the end they were told that their people in parliament were many.
Sandov commented that he does not know what the relations between PP-DB and DPS are.

They often learned about them from the media, and sometimes from Delyan Peevski himself, co-chairman of the Movement for Rights and Freedoms.
Borislav Sandov also commented on the legal changes passed in the National Assembly last week, defined as a law against the environment – through final provisions in the Law on Investments.

“I will not go into details about the bill itself, but it is extremely vicious, in violation of almost all procedures even of the National Assembly, at the last moment, through another law, without public discussion, without evaluation. The result is not to ease the procedures. The result is the total removal of barriers to environmental protection from certain major projects. The only thing that can happen is a presidential veto. I know that many NGOs have sent a request for such a veto. After it was included in the agenda from today to tomorrow, as 1.2 billion was included today, we will still give for thermal power plants. An awful lot of nonsense happened in the Energy and Environment Committee last night, because of which we will not have any payments under the Recovery Plan. Here I remember the last day in the 47th National Assembly I spoke to you about this 40% that had to be renegotiated. It didn’t happen. Now that won’t happen either, but the Restoration Plan is blocked. Billions will be blocked for Bulgaria, and just now, because it was included as an emergency item in the National Assembly, 1.2 billion for Mini Maritsa East, which will go again as unauthorized state aid, again in violation of European rights, again from our taxes , again for something dirty, from which more and more people are dying in Bulgaria,” said Sandov.
