The government is committed to finding means and ways to pay the so-called Ukrainian aid until May 15, Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev announced, after a meeting with over 50 branch organizations, which lasted over 2.5 hours. It was attended by the new Acting Minister of Agriculture, Georgi Tahov, and the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, Lyudmila Petkova.

“It’s not my first meeting with the industry, I saw people at the same table who normally talked and reproduced a decision. I thank the prime minister that it was his first meeting with agriculture,” said the new Acting Minister of Agriculture, Georgi Tahov. He explained that the funds are 100% secured, the deadline of May 15 is dictated by the payment technology and all farmers will receive their money in full. The submitted applications for Ukrainian aid are 52,000, and the amount is nearly BGN 300 million.

A part of the money will come from the restructuring of the plan-account of the “Agriculture” fund – about 200 million, and the rest will come from the budget. The Ministry of Finance is making efforts to provide the necessary resources, explained Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Ludmila Petkova.

“This is a sign that the caretaker government will work well with the sector,” commented the chairman of the Bulgarian Agrarian Chamber, Kostadin Kostadinov.

“We hope that the plans delayed by the old management will be implemented, that the campaign on direct payments will not end later than the previous one, which was delayed by 3 months,” said Dimitar Zorov, chairman of the Association of Milk Processors and the Union of Cattle Breeders.
