A few months before its 15th birthday, Palmed Medical Complex in Plovdiv is actively implementing an intensive program to upgrade its activities with new clinics, departments and sectors. This was preceded by the commissioning of the fifth and sixth consecutive buildings of the medical facility, one of which is a planned extension of the existing Block “D” as well as the brand new building “E”.

She specified that a number of large projects were launched last year, which have been finalized or will be completed in the near future. The Department of Radiation Therapy and Radiosurgery has recently been operating in the newly built building “E”. The structure is equipped with high-tech radiation therapy equipment – TrueBeam™ STx and Halcyon™ linear accelerators, and the ultramodern IDENTIFY™ systems are used for precise monitoring of the treatment process in real time. Since the beginning of March, the new Department of Nuclear Medicine, which is housed in the same building, has started working with patients.
Dr. Leparova specified that adjacent to the departments of radiation therapy, radiosurgery and nuclear medicine, the renovated Department of Medical Oncology with a day hospital will be located on two floors. In this way, UMBAL “Pulmed” will logistically provide the best complex service and treatment for patients with oncological disease.
In implementation of the investment program, the new Cardiac Surgery Department of “Palmed” will be opened soon.
The manager of the hospital pointed out that the expanded and renovated departments of urology, obstetrics and gynecology, neonatology with the highest level of competence, ear-nose-throat diseases, occupying two floors and having own operating unit. Here is also the Clinic for Internal Medicine and Endocrinology, and on the 6th floor in the new building is the newly established Clinic for Maxillofacial Surgery, equipped with the most modern equipment for diagnostics and surgical interventions, she added.
The renovated Department of Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation has also been moved to this building, completely re-equipped with the latest generation equipment and furniture with an ergonomic design, offering a wide range of additional physiotherapy procedures both to patients from all hospital structures of the medical institution, as well as to patients referred from personal physician or using the options for paid procedures.
A novelty for the hospital is the VIP sector, in which treatment is carried out in separate units equipped with the latest equipment. An opportunity for a personal nursing and sanitary post is also provided. The sector also has its own manipulation room, where a number of therapies and procedures are carried out. The VIP apartments are equipped with a mobile Kugel x-ray machine, an ECG, an echocardiography and abdominal ultrasound machine, as well as other equipment adapted to the needs of patients treated in the sector.
