N and a municipal session today in Sliven adopted a ban on the movement of electric vehicles on pedestrian zones, sidewalk areas in all populated areas, with the exception of marked sidewalk bicycle lanes, city gardens, squares, and children’s and sports grounds.

The maximum permissible speed for movement in the city and populated areas of the municipality of Sliven was reduced to 20 km/h.

Councilors accepted these changes, voting to partially amend the municipal Public Order Ordinance. The changes in the Ordinance also provide that the bodies of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the authorized municipal bodies have the right to detain individual electric vehicles as evidence. Impounded PPS will be returned to its rightful owners after payment of a fine.

Mayor Stefan Radev commented to journalists today that the control over the implementation of the new regulations is a matter of coordination with the authorities of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

“This is a problem not only for Sliven and Bulgaria, but on a European scale, he said. We expect it to have an educational effect for young people.”said the mayor.

In the part of the Ordinance on noise control in the municipality, changes concerning higher fines for offenders were also adopted.

“There are many signals from citizens that the system is not effective enough to sanction such offenders and they are ready to pay BGN 50 and disturb the peace of others”Radev pointed out.

As BTA wrote, the police in Sliven informs about more and more violations with bicycles and scooters in the pedestrian area in Sliven as the weather warms up. From the middle of March this year The regional administration (RU) in Sliven has resumed pedestrian patrols in the central part of the city by joint patrols with police officers and municipal security.
