Health and social support under the project “Care at home in the municipality of Ruse” is extended until the end of 2024.

The Ministry of Labor and Social Policy has extended the deadline for the implementation of the national project “Care at Home”, which is financed under the “Human Resources Development” Program 2021-2027. This will enable nearly 500 users in the territory of Ruse municipality to continue using the health and social service until the end of 2024.

The decision of the MTSP comes after letters and inquiries sent by the mayor Pencho Milkov to the deputies of 19 MIR-Ruse, as well as to the MTSP, about the existing risk that the users will be left without their supporting care after the completion of the project activities. In this regard, at the end of 2023, a bill to amend the Law on Social Services was submitted for consideration by People’s Representative Ivan Ivanov and a group of deputies.

With an official letter to the mayor of the municipality of Ruse, the ministry assures that in order to guarantee the continuity of care for the elderly and persons with disabilities, including those with chronic diseases and permanent disabilities, the Managing Authority of the Operational Program “Human Resources Development” ) after analysis and calculations, has taken the necessary actions to extend the implementation period of the operation until the end of 2024 and provide it with the necessary financial resources.

The project “Care at home in the municipality of Ruse” was launched in November 2022, and its implementation expands the possibilities for providing social and integrated health and social services in a home environment. The services are provided to those in need for a period of 12 months and include delivery of food products and basic necessities, payment of household bills, prevention of health and socially significant diseases, provision of psychological support, assistance in carrying out daily activities. The operation is of strategic importance and has a significant contribution to the achievement of the goals of the Human Resources Development Program 2021-2027.
