An exhibition presents some of the illustrations of newly created textbooks on religion and Orthodox Christianity in Veliko Tarnovo, announced the Orthodox Theological Faculty of the University of Veliko Tarnovo.
The exhibition “With faith in the future century” contains drawings and visual materials, they are part of the educational content of the textbooks published by the Bulgarian Orthodox Church. The creation and implementation of the project to write textbooks on religion – Christianity and Orthodoxy for the full course of study from 1 to 12 grades in the Bulgarian school and their specific artistic layout is an occasion to seek a dialogue both about the need for religious literacy of Bulgarian children and and about the value and meaning of a specific, author’s artistic layout of literature for children and students, said Marieta Konova, a teacher in the Department of Church Arts.
In this regard, a meeting with the illustrators and authors will be organized within the exhibition, aimed at a wide range of visitors. Among them are the illustrators Prof. Vanya Sapundjieva and Katerina Milusheva, part of the team of authors and editors of the textbooks – Prof. Magdalena Legkostup, Dean of the Orthodox Theological Faculty of Veliko Tarnovo University, Prof. Dr. Mariyan Stoyadinov – author and editor-in-chief, Prof. Dr. Dimitar Popmarinov – author and theological editor, Assoc. Yordan Yordanov – art editor, Assoc. Dr. Svilen Tutekov, Assoc. Pavel Sabev and Dr. Desislava Panayotova – author and expert in the Cultural and Educational Department of the Holy Synod.
The exhibition and the meeting will take place on April 26 and are part of the program of the forum “Foyer of the book with an autograph”, organized by the Regional Library “P. R. Slaveikov”.
