The saxophonist and flutist Mike Sax is a guest in the theater hall of the People’s Community Center “Iskra” in Veliko Tarnovo.
He introduced the audience to the history of wind instruments, the role of the saxophone in different musical genres and did several demonstrations and improvisations.
Those present at the event learned more about the origins of the smooth jazz style and about the most famous saxophone artists – Kenny G, Dave Koz, Candy Dulfer, Michael Lington, Richard Elliott, and also heard works specific to this instrument.
Students from schools in Veliko Tarnovo attended the Smooth Jazz Sax event, which is part of the “Creative Workshop 21” project of Iskra Primary School.
The meeting and the concert took place with the support and cooperation of the Municipality, and in partnership with the “Music Teacher” foundation.
Mike Sax, whose name is Milen Stoykov, is a saxophonist and flutist with extensive professional experience. He has performed on many international and national stages, and his performances and interviews have been broadcast on various media.
The saxophonist is visiting Veliko Tarnovo at the invitation of Dobrin Peltekov – the music teacher who is a teacher at the “St. Patriarch Euthymius” in the old capital.
The two instrumentalists were classmates at the music school in Stara Zagora, and later became fellow students at the institute in Plovdiv. For 20 years they have toured the world and played in Austria, Germany, Switzerland, Norway, Finland, Denmark, Sweden, as well as on large cruise ships.
They are known in Greenland, even in China, where Mike Sachs worked for a year and a half. For a certain period of time, their paths diverge, but subsequently they also work in several more joint projects. In addition to being partners on stage, they are like-minded on many topics, among which is the musical upbringing of children. It is decisive for their culture, manners, attitude towards society, it is also important for their mental balance.
