The 14th edition of the Street Arts Festival 6Fest in Plovdiv begins with the first events of its street program on April 27 and 28. Entrance is free. For the fifth year in a row, the festival takes place with the support of the Plovdiv Municipality and is part of the city’s Cultural Calendar for 2024. The festival continues with a street and city program from May 9 to 12.

6Fest will open on April 27 (Saturday) at Central Square with two circus performances by the circus and theater formation Traviecircus Duo (Italy/Mexico). The duo was founded in 2015 by Alessandra Azzaro from Italy and Yoltic López from Mexico and to date have performed in festivals and events in 26 countries on 4 continents. From 18:00 is “El NoPalito Clown” – a one-man show by Yoltik Lopez, based on improvisation with the audience. The performer draws inspiration from his surroundings and the people in the audience, creating a dynamic and interactive atmosphere that draws everyone into the action. From 7:00 p.m. is the circus one-man show “Hoop Boom Boom” by Alessandra Azzaro, which combines hoop techniques, comedy and improvisation.

On April 27 at 8:30 p.m. Theater formation “Senju” will present the puppet show “Isson Boshi”. This is a Bulgarian-Japanese production, with a lot of attention to detail and Japanese culture. Spectators can enjoy handmade Takeda dolls, as well as giant puppets, shadow theater, original music and poetry.

Isson Boshi is as small as a grain of rice! But nevertheless he is smart and brave. He can read and write and is also studying to be a samurai. With the help of a bowl, a needle and an adorable koi fish, Sunny Boy makes it to the big city of Kyoto! There he manages to find a job, meets the beautiful girl Hanako and faces the terrible Oni monster. Exciting and magical, the story teaches us that “The whole world is arranged like this! I help you – you help me tomorrow!”.

Theater formation “Senju” was created in 2018 by a group of independent puppeteers. The troupe is popular for performing Takeda puppetry techniques, a unique Japanese puppet system. With the help of the last heir of the Takeda Theater (Senju Takeda), they modernized the Takeda system to suit modern theater conditions.

On April 28 (Sunday) 6Fest invites you to Jumaya Square from 18:30 for the circus performance “FIESTA”. In it, the two artists from Traviecircus Duo will immerse us in Mexican culture. The performance combines music, juggling and clowning.

“Festival for street and urban arts 6Fest 2024” is realized with the financial support of the Municipality of Plovdiv.
