The speed of electric scooters on the roads in the municipality of Sliven is limited to 20 km/h, the Municipal Council decided. Their movement is completely prohibited in all pedestrian areas, sidewalks, the city garden and alleys, with the exception of bicycle lanes. The local parliament also raised fines for noise violations from BGN 50 to BGN 450 for individuals.

The speed limit of electric scooters will be monitored together with the police, said Mayor Stefan Radev and indicated that such restrictions are imposed in all European countries.

“A problem not only for Sliven, a problem not only for Bulgaria, a problem on a European scale as well, which is constantly being posed. It is good to have them (the fines) as an educational effect for young people”.

Over the past two years, over 8,000 calls to 112 have been received about loud music. In this regard, the local parliament increased fines for disturbing the peace of citizens.

It remains to be seen how the new penalty amount will work.

The municipal council today also adopted the proposals for amending the municipal budget, the budget forecast for the period 2025-2027, the Ordinance on the administration of local fees and services, etc.
