Children from Kindergarten 23 “Kyparis” in Stara Zagora enjoy safe games in their transformed yard, the grand opening entitled “Joy and Smiles” gathered guests and parents this morning. The renovation was carried out from mid-August to December last year, for which BGN 314,000 was allocated from the budget of the Municipality of Stara Zagora. During the winter, we could not make a good opening, we waited for the weather to lend a hand, explained the director of DG 23 “Kyparis” Maya Neicheva. She managed the children’s institution for 32 years – since 1992. The garden itself was opened 53 years ago, and an interesting fact is that during this long period of time it had only two directors, both with the surname Neicheva.

At the magnificent opening, the Municipality of Stara Zagora was represented by Deputy Mayor Nadezhda Chakarova, Director of the Directorate “Municipal Projects, Traffic Safety and Construction Control” Gergana Mihailova and Head of the Department “Education and Youth Activities” Stanimira Dimitrova. There were also guests from the University of Thrace, whose Faculty of Pedagogy implements its personnel in the children’s institutions of the municipality.

The kindergarten’s guest of honor was its popular graduate – Stefan Valdobrev from Stara Zagora, actor, composer, musician, singer and film director. The opening of the celebration took place with the anthem of the garden, written by Valdobrev. “You made me feel very special for that hour and a half, writing an anthem may sound very special but what you did is no less unique. You spent the entire celebration without microphones, which is a sign that at least half of these brave children will become actors or singers with their voices from Stara Zagora,” the actor predicted. “Many memories come flooding back to me, of my mother picking me up after work with a cheek swollen from an uneaten bite that I refuse to swallow all day. But don’t worry, parents, see that after only 50 years, things fall into place,” Valdobrev jokingly exclaimed, patting his belly. Among his fond memories of this yard is how he kissed Galya from the fourth group, who gave him a hedgehog key ring, on the cheek.

During their meeting, Deputy Mayor Nadezhda Chakarova and Stefan Valdobrev indulged in exciting memories. “We have known each other for more than 30 years, we were classmates and graduates of Romain Rolland High School, I am a living witness of its entire development,” noted Nadezhda Chakarova with pleasure. “At the Language School he started with a self-made group, we have welcomed his every success and we have kept great memories and sincere friendship,” she said with a smile.
