Evening of the philologist at YuZU in Blagoevgrad – 4VLAST

With educational games, students from the Southwest University “Neofit Rilski” demonstrated their knowledge at the “Evening of the Philologist”. It is part of a series of initiatives that take place within the framework of the National Scientific Program “Development and Promotion of Bulgarian Studies Abroad”.

This event is focused on young people, philologists, students at Neofit Rilski University of Applied Sciences, Bulgarians from abroad who are with us and study the Bulgarian language. There are also students here who are part of the “Erasmus+” program, because we already have a successful cooperation with the program in terms of internships, the teacher at the Faculty of Philology of the University of Blagoevgrad Assoc. Bilyana Todorova told BTA. She pointed out that students from the faculty go abroad under this program, where they carry out their internships in Bulgarian schools. We are trying to show that the Bulgarian language is not only in schools in Bulgaria, but also in Bulgarian schools abroad and in general everywhere where there are Bulgarians, noted Assoc. Todorova.

The national scientific program “Development and consolidation of Bulgarian studies abroad”, part of which is also “Evening of the philologist” at the Neofit Rilski State University of Education, began in September 2022 and has a total duration of three years. It is financed by the Ministry of Education and Science. The leading organization and coordinator of the program is the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (BAS) in partnership with centers in the study of Bulgarian issues: Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski”, Plovdiv University “Paisii Hilendarski”, Veliko Tarnovo University “St. St. Cyril and Methodius”, Southwestern University “Neofit Rila” and “Bishop Konstantin Preslavski” Shumen University. The focus of the program is building an attractive image of our country by increasing interest in Bulgarian studies abroad as a scientific research field. Emphasis is mainly placed on the Bulgarian language and literature, Bulgarian history, art and culture, including ethnography and folklore.

According to Assoc. Prof. Biliana Todorova, the program has so far shown that it is successful, the students are thirsty for events in which they are the active party. The goal is ultimately to show that the Bulgarian language is a world language, a language from all the diversity in the world, where it has its rightful place, and literature, culture, not only the language, have their rightful place, pointed out Prof. Todorova .

At the Philologist’s Evening, the tradition of handing over the “Key to the Faculty” at the end of the academic year was observed by students who are about to graduate to freshmen.
