The author’s musical performance “Emotions of First Necessity” based on fragments of “Fear and Misery in the Third Reich” by Bertolt Brecht will premiere on April 27, at 7:00 p.m. on the Chamber Stage in DT “Sava Ognyanov” – Ruse. The director is Eva Danailova – winner of the “Slavi Shkarov” young director award 2023. Her author’s interpretation was the clear choice of the jury and won the vote of the audience and the actors.
“Next year we will try to open the application for the “Slavi Shkarov” competition in some wider Balkan region – Romania, North Macedonia, Serbia. With this, we want our competition to stand out from the others in the country”, commented the director of the theater Boyan Ivanov.
“The performance is written by the actors and the entire creative team. We all thought together about how to develop the concept, everyone gave suggestions. We all had fun, and this is the way to involve the audience in the important themes that the play touches on,” said director Eva Danailova. According to her, these are the everyday decisions, the choices we make, the responsibility we bear for them.
The plot of “Emotions of First Necessity” is two of Brecht’s miniatures “Justice” and “Imitation of Feelings”, the former being the main one. The performance includes musical fragments and dance elements. The team works according to the game theater method, in which, in addition to following the plot, the actors themselves set game traps for each other to act out in front of the audience.
Ivaylo Draganov, Christiana Tsenkova, Rostislav Pankov, Donna Valova, Lyubomir Kanev take part in the show. The scenography is the work of Evgenia Yavasheva, the music is by Hristo Namliev, and the choreography is by Stefan Vitanov. Consultant Angel Petrov.
