A charitable folklore event raised funds for four community centers from the Municipality of Sliven

The “Sliven Public Donor Fund” Foundation (ODF) organized and financially supported a charitable folklore event for four community centers from the Municipality of Sliven. Dora Kurshumova, moderator of the event from ODF, announced this in an interview for BTA.
The collected funds are to support the activities and conditions for rehearsals and performances of the ensembles from the “Hristo Botev 1936” Community Center – Byala village, “Druzhba 1993” Primary School, Sliven, “Slantse-1928” Primary School, Gavrailovo village and “Probuda” Primary School -1938″ Panaretovtsi village. The Belen community center will use the money for costumes for the children’s dance group, the Sliven community center – for tservuli, the community center in the village of Gavrailovo – for furnishing a rehearsal hall, and in Panaretovtsi they will invest the funds for a new laminate and mirrors for the rehearsal hall.
“Part of the funds were collected through a charity bazaar, a continuation of the initiative of the ODF “Tasty Journey in Slivensko”, said Kurshumova. Several types of sweet and savory pies, kosunats and kurabia, juicy baklava, etc. were sold in minutes. A raffle collected a significant amount for the causes of the community centers. The ensembles performed local people and showed how the folk dance wealth of the villages of the Sliven region is preserved and how young people are involved in this activity.”
The total amount collected is BGN 2,150.
“Our organization, in addition to organizing the event, also supported financially with catering costs, as well as with donations of our publications on the culinary heritage of the Sliven region for the bazaar, pointed out Dora Kurshumova and added: This event is a clear example of how local communities can to finance their own small projects.”
