The new prices of BGN 4 per kilometer announced by the taxi companies in Kardzhali set fire to the social network with countless comments.
Some citizens firmly insist on the use of toll booths, as is the case everywhere in Bulgaria. The opposite opinion is that the point-to-point price is more acceptable because congested areas slow down travel and rush hour bills swell if a device is released. It’s an old argument that rages with every rate hike.
For these dirty cars, smelling of cigarettes and sweat, in which a chalga thunders, even 2 BGN is a lot. I would also pay 5 BGN, but it would be comfortable and pleasant for me. A large part of the car fleet consists of old and depreciated vehicles – they rattle, crackle, sometimes stall, says a resident of a suburb.
Mothers explain that drivers refuse to carry prams. Another commenter is angry that taxi drivers often choose their orders as well. They don’t want to drive to “Veselchani” because there was traffic, and to the railway station – many potholes. And they won’t even hear about the new blocks of “Vazrozhdentsi” – there are almost no streets or they are not repaired.
Frequent taxi drivers claim that the announced prices of BGN 4 are not new at all. Drivers charge an even higher rate, depending on the distance. However, never reduce the price for short distance!
The dilemma of whether it is better to include a device or to pay a certain price is similar to the eternal dispute of which is primary – the chicken or the egg… It has not been resolved for years. Control is weak, and drivers raise their prices, even without the diesel “jumping”.
In addition to the state of the cars, social networks also comment on whether their number in a city like Kardzhali is not too large. But to the questions asked there, there is no way to get an answer either from the traffic police or from the municipality.
